SALSA

The style of Salsa that we teach is called "Mambo" or New York Style Salsa On2.

There are many different styles of Salsa that exist; we focus specifically on Mambo. Many other studios in the Milwaukee area teach Salsa On1 and we want to make sure that you have the opportunity to learn more than one style.

At the beginner level you will learn the basic steps, timing, partner connection and body movement needed to allow and easy transition into the level 2 classes. Our Salsa program involves various styles of Afro Cuban classes to teach students proper Salsa history and improve their quality of body movement.

  • Salsa On2 (levels 1-4)

  • Rumba (levels 1 & 2)

  • Mondays | 6pm in Studio A1

    For anyone with little to no experience

    No partner required

    This is a body movement class where you will learn how to move your hips, torso and arms while dancing the salsa basic and other beginner salsa level 1 steps

  • Wednesdays | 6pm at Zócalo

    This class is for anyone with very little to no experience. A partner is not required. In this class you will learn not only your basic Salsa steps, but also learn about the different instruments that are played in Salsa music. We will train your ears to be able to identify and understand how to dance to Salsa on time with confidence. You will heavily train in Salsa body movement and be challenge in different Salsa step variations that prepare you for the partner work classes.

  • Mondays | 7PM in Studio A

    Wednesdays| 7PM at Zócalo

    Anyone taking this class must also be taking the shines 6pm class on Mondays and/or Wednesdays. No partner is required. This class focuses on partner connection and the fundamental ‘bread & butter’ moves you need to know as a beginner social dancer.

  • Mondays in Studio A1 at 7pm

    for all dancers approved to take Salsa LVL 2 and above

    **do not wear stilettos for this class, wear your Salsa heels or cubans for this class

     

    Amber's methodology to Ladies Styling for Salsa is focused on

    1. strength and flexibility

    2. fluid body range of motion

    3. arm styling/body framing and Afro Fusion movements 

    You will get more than arm focus - you entire body will be trained and strengthened for femme movement in Salsa that you can easily add to your social dancing for partner work and shines :D 

  • Mondays | 8pm Studio A1

    Level 2 class that is 100% focused on shines and is danced on Son timing, Salsa On2 (fusion class) and sometimes Cha Cha Cha timing

    Must complete 2-3 months of Salsa level 1 basics shines and partner classes before taking this class.

  • Mondays in Studio A2 at 6pm

    Double turn technique for LVL 2 and above dancers to master leading and following double turns

  • Mondays in Studio A2 at 8pm

    a 100% shines class for all dancers who are approved to take our levels 3 and 4 classes

  • Currently not offered in the summer

    During summertime we offer a fusion class for levels 2 & 3 combined at 8pm on Wednesdays at Zócalo

    Build on the bread and butter moves you have mastered in the level 2 partner class and learn more difficult turn patterns and footwork.

    Prerequisite: Minimum 3-6 months of training in the LVL 2 Salsa cycles and Rumba classes and approval from Josh required.

  • Mondays at 9pm in Studio A1

    This is a class for dancers who are confident in the level 3 classes and are looking for a challenge. This is a level 4 class and currently the most difficult level we offer for Salsa. This class is 100% partnerwork.

    Must have already taken "LVL 3" for 5-6 months or have prior approval from Joshua / Amber

BACHATA

We offer 3 styles of Bachata at our academy:

  • Urban Bachata (offered year-round)

  • Sensual Bachata (offered year- round)

  • Dominican/Traditional Bachata (offered in summer months: June, July, August)

    At the beginner level you will learn body movement, footwork and partnerwork fundamentals that apply to Dominican/Traditional Bachata, Urban Bachata & Sensual Bachata dance styles. All 3 styles mentioned are taught on Tuesday & Thursday evenings.

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays | 6PM

    This class is for anyone with very little to no experience. A partner is not required. In this class you will learn not only your basic Bachata steps, but also learn about the different instruments that are played in Bachata music. We will train your ears to be able to identify and understand how to dance to Bachata on time with confidence. You will heavily train in full body movement, be challenged in different Bachata step variations.

    For partnerwork we will focus on connection and simple single turn patterns that can be used on the dance floor at socials and nightclub environments.

  • Thursdays 7pm @ Daync Studio A

    Sensual Bachata LVL 2 class - this class is required in order to be admitted into the level 3 urban and sensual partner classes.

    You will master all body movements individually and in partner work:

    • body rolls & reverse body rolls

    • head rolls

    • side waves

    • double turns

    • cambres

      **All students must pass this class in order to take LVL 3 partner classes

    Need approval from Josh to take this class.

  • Thursdays| 8PM in Studio A

    Ease into learning connection and fundamental moves you need to start dancing Sensual Bachata with confidence. This prepares dancers for our level 4 Thursday 9pm Sensual Bachata class.

  • Thursdays | 9PM in Studio A

    Our most challenging Bachata class that is 100% partner focused. We focus on Bachata Sensual social dancing combinations and musicality versus technique.

    2 -4 month minimum required of the Tuesday 9pm LVL 3 Sensual Bachata class before taking this class. Each student also needs approval from Josh.

    Dominican Bachata, also known as Traditional Bachata, is a class that will teach you about the origins of Bachata. All of the technique and moves you learn will directly relate to how Bachata is danced in the Dominican Republic (where Bachata came from).

    Bachata mens' styling level 2 class - need at least 2 cycles of level 1 to take this class. This class strengthens leads as individual dancers which positively impacts and improves their social dancing in partnerwork.

    This is a technique class meaning that technique, concepts and drills will be taught. Choreography is not the focus of this class.

    Bachata Ladies (Feminine) is a solo dancing class focused on exploring Feminine style movement & sensuality to Bachata music. This class will aid in helping you understand Bachata musicality and how to be more playful and creative when dancing Bachata. This class provides a safe space for dancers to grow in flexibility, core strength, Bachata femme body movement technique and sensual dance movements.

    Your instructor for this class is Amber Rivard, co-owner of Daync and 7 year veteran instructor to feminine styling in both Bachata and Salsa.

  • Not offered in the summertime other than the outdoor class @Zócalo which is a fusion class of levels 2 & 3 which takes place at 8pm

    This is a level 3 all partnerwork class that focuses building up confidence and learning moves you will use in social dance and club settings

NEW TO DAYNC ACADEMY?

    • Cell phone with the Daync mobile app downloaded & profile created

    • Water bottle

    • Clothes you are comfortable sweating in (sweat pants, leggings, tshirt etc)

    • Deodorant

    • Shoes: socks or tennis shoes (separate pair from the ones you wear walking in, bring clean pair of tennis shoes unworn outside) No heels or specific dance shoes required. No ‘ outdoor shoes’ allowed - we must keep our floors clean from outdoor debris.

  • No you do not need a partner. 95% of our students take classes solo. We rotate partners in class. If you are attending class with a partner, we highly recommend rotating to dance with everyone.

  • Register for class through the Daync mobile app before your first class. This will save you a lot of time and allow for quick check-in when you arrive. We have about 40+ students to check-in for each class; early registration is best.

    In order to attend a class, all students are required to register for each class via the Daync app in advance. If your name is not on the registration list you cannot take class. If you are experiencing tech difficulties with the app, text us (262 475 0945) and let us know which classes you want to register for.

    1. To use the mobile app you'll want to download it onto your phone from the Apple Store (if you have iPhone) or the Google Play store (if you have Android) https://dayncstudio.com/daync-app

    2. Once the app is downloaded, you will be prompted to create a personal profile. (if you have a spouse/partner you are taking classes with, make sure each of you use a separate email for your accounts)

    3. Once your profile is complete, you will then be able to see our full class schedule in the 'Book' tab at the bottom left

    4. You will also be able to make purchases & see our promotions/intro offers in the "Buy' tab at the bottom center

    5. Under the 'Profile' section on the bottom right, you will be able to see your profile info, active class credits, attendance & purchase history

    1. Click the 'Book' button on the bottom left, scroll until you see the class you want to take.

    2. Click the class you want to take ('F' is for follows and 'L' is for leads).

    3. Once you click the class, select the red 'Book' or white 'Book Multiple' button to secure your spot in class.

    **Each class uses 1 credit. If you book and do not show for class, 1 credit is still applied and deducted from your account. You may cancel a class up to 24 hours before class begins. If cancellation is within 24 hours of class starting, it is considered a 'late cancel' and 1 credit is deducted from your account.

  • We open doors 15 minute before classes begin. We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early so that you have time to get checked in, use the restroom and stretch before class.

  • 10 minute grace period

    Students may enter the classroom up until 10 minutes after the start time.

    Once the 10 minute grace period has passed, our lobby doors will close and reopen 15 minutes before the next class starts.

  • All students are required to register via the Daync app prior to arrival.

    You may no longer wait to book your class at the desk in person.

    If you are experiencing tech difficulties with the app, text us by 5pm (262 475 0945) and let us know which classes you want to register for.

  • Students may cancel a registration within the app up to 3 hours before class starts without losing a credit.

    All cancellations must be via the Daync app.

    This policy affects class pack purchasers and members who have the 12 or 16 class memberships. This policy doesn’t apply to unlimited members.

  • Daync Academy maintains a strict "all sales are final" policy, meaning that no refunds are provided for any purchases. This policy applies to all classes, workshops, events, and other services offered by the academy.

Monthly CYCLES

New students start classes during week 1of the cycle. If a student is not able to start week 1, they may request permission ahead of time to start week 2. Please call us if you want to start after week 1 of a cycle: (414)-551-0089.
